The Street Parties will once again transform Lisbon’s squares and gardens into stages for music, art and dance, between September 7 and 29… and we already know the entire program.
The Street Parties are back in town and will offer everyone, until the end of September, outdoor shows, from concerts, dances and arts of all kinds, from magic to cinema.
Starting on September 7 and running until September 29, Lisbon will transform some of its gardens and squares into authentic stages for musical acts and magic and dance performances, among many other activities for the whole family.
The city streets, more active than ever
Lisbon is a very busy city in terms of tourism, and for those who live here, the alfacinhas of yesteryear, the Festas na Rua events are always a highlight of the end of summer.
This year, the following are being organized:
- magic days (already happened, from August 20 to 25)
- dance days
- great concerts
- outdoor cinema
The main highlights of Festas na Rua
The Festas na Rua calendar offers a wide range of cultural suggestions, which are sure to please all tastes.
So here are our tips on what we think are the most interesting. And we’re going to start with one of the last musical shows of Festas na Rua.
If you like classical music and choirs, then you can’t miss the Gulbenkian Choir and Orchestra concert in Vale do Silêncio, on September 7 at 9:30 pm, which will perform various choral and symphonic works from opera and musicals.
Still in the area of classical music, seven days later, on September 14 at 7pm, the concert by composer Rui Massena in Praça do Município, will be a solo show with some of his compositions on the piano.
Our musical suggestions end with the performance of the Hot Clube de Portugal Jazz Orchestra, accompanied by Cristina Branco and Mário Laginha, on September 12 at 7pm, in the Quinta da Alfarrobeira Garden, in São Domingos de Benfica.
The Lisbon capital will also offer many other attractions for all ages:
- XVI International Iberian Mask Parade:
- September 21 at 4:30 p.m. in Praça do Município
- More than 450 participants parade through the streets of Lisbon from the center and north of the country, but also from Asturias, Galicia, Castilla y León, Extremadura, Andalusia and Venice.

- Cinema at Estendal:
- September 13, 14, 20 and 21 at 9pm, at the Lavadouros do Pátio do Moca (13 and 14) and Lumiar (20 and 21)
- A selection of films and shorts from the Queer Lisboa national competition and another of national and international works celebrating the 50th anniversary of April 25.

- Piano City:
- September 27-29, at the Galveias Palace, the Gardens of the Lisbon Museum – Pimenta Palace, and the Coruchéus Gardens
- After Berlin, Madrid, New York, Milan and Athens, the Piano City Festival debuts in Lisbon, bringing with it dozens of artists who promise to fill the city with music for 3 days and more than 30 concerts.
- September 27-29, at the Galveias Palace, the Gardens of the Lisbon Museum – Pimenta Palace, and the Coruchéus Gardens
There are plenty of reasons to take to the streets between September 7 and 29, and what’s more, all of these events are free and aimed at all ages.
