Baixa-Chiado welcomes the New Year to the sound of Janeiras

Next Monday, January 6, the traditional singing of Janeiras will invade the heart of Lisbon. There will also be a symbolic re-enactment of the arrival of the Three Wise Men.

After Christmas and New Year’s Eve, it ‘s finally time to say goodbye to the festive season with the traditional singing of Janeiras.

If you’re a fan of these traditional melodies, then you won’t want to miss the event: “Cantar as Janeiras” in Baixa-Chiado, promoted by the Associação de Dinamização da Baixa Pombalina (ADBP).

The initiative promises to liven up the streets and stores of Baixa Pombalina on January 6, starting at 10.30 a.m. and running until 6 p.m., with a musical procession featuring the Beira Serra Singing Group and the Original Bandalheira band.

There will also be a very special visit, namely the symbolic re-enactment of the arrival of the three Wise Men (Balthazar, Gaspar and Melchior). Without a doubt, this is a different way of celebrating Three Kings’ Day. Are you planning on stopping by?
