The viewpoint of São Pedro de Alcântara will be the main stage of the Popular Saints in Bairro Alto, with the presence of several national artists at the famous Arraial da Misericórdia, which takes place between May 30 and June 29.
Toy, José Cid, Rosinha, Herman José, among many other guests, will be some of the main attractions at Santos Populares in Bairro Alto, which is already preparing for a month of pure entertainment that promises to fill Lisbon’s nights with music, gastronomy and culture.
Throughout the month, the Santos Populares in Bairro Alto will be full of musical entertainment, with popular music and DJs , but also dance groups, Fado concerts, handicrafts and, of course, the beautiful sardines dripping on bread, among other traditional snacks from the Santo António festivities.
Fado, the greatest symbol of Lisbon’s culture, will once again be honored on stage with performances from historic houses such as Adega Machado, O Faia, Taberna da Má Fama, Tasca do Chico, Luso, Severa and Já Disse, bringing the authentic spirit of Bairro Alto to the viewpoint.

Food and drink… and lots of partying
There’s no Lisbon festival that doesn’t offer the famous grilled sardines. And at Santos Populares in Bairro Alto, at the Arraial da Misericórdia, you’ll not only have this traditional snack, but also bifanas, pão com chouriço, all kinds of sausages, sangria, farturas, among many other delicious options.
For Hilário Castro, president of the Executive Committee of the Bairro Alto Commercial and Business Association:
Arraial da Misericórdia is a reflection of the energy, authenticity and diversity of Bairro Alto. In this arraial, we experience all that our Bairro has to offer – from excellent gastronomy to the artists who are part of Lisbon’s soul. It’s also an important boost for local commerce, which lives in symbiosis with culture and the community. Our arraial is an opportunity to experience the Santos Populares in the most typical way possible, right in the center of Lisbon.”

Musical line-up at Arraial da Misericórdia
Once again, the musical line-up planned for one of Lisbon’s biggest festivals will be as joyful as possible, with some of the best-known artists in Portuguese popular music:
Entertainment until the early hours
Arraial da Misericórdia is close to one of the city’s most nocturnal neighborhoods, Bairro Alto.
