The 10th edition of Poster Mostra will return to the Marvila district from June 21, in an open-air exhibition that will be available to the public until September, with various posters installed on the walls of some buildings, which you can visit while strolling through the “industrialized” streets of this district, which is increasingly becoming a stopping point for art and creativity in the city.
In Lisbon’s best-known open-air gallery, which is also free during the three summer months, this year you’ll be able to see posters by guest artists such as Adelino Lyon de Castro/MNAC, Joana Durães, Nini Andrade Silva, Bruna Bunnioto, Fedor, Joana Astolfi, Mesk, Constança Duarte, Augusto Brázio, Catarina Glam, Dooppiidoo, Iva Viana, António Saldanha/Narrativa, Madalena Pequito, Paulo Albuquerque, Alexandre Murtinheira, Bruno Lucas, Margarita Brum, Ana Galvão Lopes, Inês Lopes Gonçalves and Joana Marques (As 3 da Manhã), and Ah Amália-Living Experience.
The opening will include gifts
The exhibition will open on June 21, with a guided tour by Bruno Pereira, curator and artistic director of Poster and the Department, starting at 4pm at Rua do Açúcar, next to Phosphoreira.
The route also includes Rua Capitão Leitão (Sandeman Street), Rua do Açúcar, Largo do Poço do Bispo and Rua Amorim.
Poster Mostra’s partner, “Ah Amália – Living Experience”, will be offering tickets for the immersive experience to the first 10 visitors and a 10% discount for everyone who takes part in the guided tour, which will end at 8 Marvila, where at 5.30pm the exhibition with over 200 works submitted to the Poster and Sandeman Open Calls will be inaugurated, followed by a party with music until 8pm.
3 months of art in Marvila
Bruno Pereira, Curator and Creative Director of Poster and the Department points out that,
It’s been 10 years of Poster and it seems like yesterday that those deserted walls called out to us. Let’s celebrate a decade of creativity and art in a Marvila that has become an open-air gallery. On June 21 we open and you have until September to visit.”
The posters created include photography, drawing, words, illustration or mixed media and, as in previous editions, a total of 17 winners were selected based on their originality, approach and applicability to the poster format.
The invited artists were then joined by the other 17 selected from the Open Calls, who competed for their deserved space on one of these walls in Marvila:
- Open Call: Agnese Taverna, António Tudella, Beatriz Brajal, Gabriela Ferreira, Isa Marita, João Maria Pingo, Juliana Pina, Maria Luísa Abreu, Rana Sui and Rodolfo Barreto;
- Open Call Sandeman: Cristina Matias, Fernanda Serrer, Hugo Poge, Manuel Sánchez, Paulo Mariano, Pedro Emanuel and Ricardo Ferreira.
This open-air exhibition, which will take place between Rua do Açúcar and Largo do Poço do Bispo, will begin on June 21 and run until September.
