One of the most important cultural events to take place in Lisbon, the Poetry Book Fair, will once again take place, this time in a different location.
Dedicated exclusively to poetry, organized by Casa Fernando Pessoa and the Campo de Ourique Parish Council, the Poetry Book Fair will take place from March 18 to 23, from Tuesday to Sunday, between 11am and 7pm, at the Campo de Ourique Barracks.
With a wide variety of activities, such as book presentations, workshops, readings and shows, this event once again promises to attract thousands of poetry lovers to the Campo de Ourique neighborhood.
The importance of poetry in Portuguese literature
With previous editions taking place in the Jardim da Parada, the Poetry Book Fair highlights the importance of poetry in Portuguese literature, as well as internationally, always highlighting the works of poets of our day, as well as those already established.
In this sense, Casa Fernando Pessoa plays a key role in organizing yet another event that promotes culture and literature through free activities.
Program and activities
Although registration is required for some activities, the entire event is free.
You’ll be able to count on book launches and discussions about new works of poetry; workshops for creating and reflecting on this type of writing; meetings with poets and experts to discuss the art of poetry; and recitals to celebrate poetry in its different forms of demonstration.
You can see the entire program on the Casa Fernando Pessoa website.
The Poetry Book Fair has a habit of attracting a very diverse audience, and the move to the new venue could bring even more people to this cultural event in Lisbon, thus strengthening the offer in this area.
Its continuity, which also aims to maintain a meeting point for poets and poetry lovers, is extremely important for the cultural development of any city, so the guarantee of a rich program that is accessible to the public was taken into account.
