For the second day in a row, Portugal made history again at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. After Iuri Leitão omnium track race, this time it was Pedro Pablo Pichardo who secured a place on the podium.
The 31-year-old won nothing less than the silver medal in the triple jump competition, beaten only by Spain’s Jordan Díaz.
The Portuguese athlete, Olympic champion at Tokyo 2020, secured second place with a mark of 17.84 metres, his second out of six attempts.
In all, the Portuguese delegation has now won three medals at the Olympic Games. In addition to the aforementioned victories by Iuri Leitão and Pedro Pichardo, it is important to highlight the bronze medal by Patrícia Sampaio in judo (-78kg)
