Haven’t bought your Pão de Ló or Folar yet? And are you still missing the wine to pair with the roast kid for your Easter Sunday lunch? Here’s some advice: don’t leave everything to the last minute, because on April 5, store hours may change in Greater Lisbon.
To make sure you have everything you need for such a special occasion, we’ve put together a brief (and very practical) guide with the likely opening hours of Lisbon’s major supermarkets and hypermarkets on Easter Sunday.
Easter Sunday Hours

Continente
Most Continente stores are expected to be open on Easter Sunday, though with reduced hours, specifically from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Even so, check the official website to avoid any inconvenience.
Pingo Doce
Pingo Doce stores will be open until 2 p.m., but with some exceptions nationwide.
Lidl
On Easter Sunday, Lidl stores are expected to remain closed.
Auchan
Auchan stores are also not expected to open their doors.
Mercadona
Mercadona stores will be closed in both Portugal and Spain.
Aldi
Aldi stores are likely to have reduced hours, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Tip from Lisboa Secreta: EasterSunday is meant to be celebrated with family and without stress! Don’t assume everything will operate as on a completely normal day. Make a list of what you need, shop in advance, and, of course, don’t leave home without checking the hours of the supermarkets closest to your address.
