Summer has arrived, and Carris Metropolitana has adjusted its operations in the Lisbon Metropolitan Area. Good news for anyone wanting to reach Costa da Caparica or Sesimbra by public transportation: the “Linhas Mar” routes will resume service starting July 4.
The seasonal service, which offers faster and more direct connections to the region’s main beach areas , will operate through August 31. Connections to Costa da Caparica are provided by lines 2650 (Cidade Nova), 2651 (Bucelas), 2652 (Forte da Casa), 2653 (Caneças), and 2850 (Póvoa de Santo Adrião). For Sesimbra, the routes are 3650 (Moita) and 4643 (Montijo).
Holders of the Passe Navegante Metropolitano can use the Linhas Mar at no additional cost. For occasional trips, tickets can be purchased on board for 4.65 euros.
Phased transition to summer schedules
This transition to summer schedules will be implemented in phases across the four areas.
In Area 1, which includes Lisbon, Sintra, Cascais, Amadora, and Oeiras, the new schedules take effect on June 29. As for Area 2 (Odivelas, Mafra, Vila Franca de Xira, and Loures), the change will take place on July 4, although the lines have been operating on school vacation schedules since June 15.
Area 3, which includes Almada, Sesimbra, and Seixal, also takes effect on June 29, with schedule changes on the following routes:
- 3001 | Almada (Cristo Rei) – Cacilhas (Terminal)
- 3215 | Fornos – Sampaio (via Aiana)
- 3519 | Costa da Caparica (Terminal) – Corroios (Station)
- 3520 | Costa da Caparica (Terminal) – Quinta do Brasileiro
- 3522 | Fonte da Telha – Paio Pires (Center).
Finally, in Area 4, which includes Moita, Barreiro, Montijo, Alcochete, Setúbal, and Palmela, school bus routes ceased operations on June 12, with some resuming service for the summer period on June 29. These include the circular routes in Alcochete, São Francisco, and Moita, as well as the routes in Palmela, Setúbal, and Azeitão.
