Although this is not the first time Lisbon has appeared in similar rankings, the European Best Destinations top 10 is one of the most popular internationally, having mobilized travelers from 154 countries and registered more than 1.3 million votes.

In the ranking led by Madrid, the Portuguese capital comes in 9th place, standing out for its brightness, lifestyle, historical mix, and modern creativity, as well as its renowned cuisine.
In addition to Lisbon, Portugal appears twice more on the list of best European destinations in 2026: Câmara de Lobos (Madeira) appears in sixth place and the Costa Vicentina (Alentejo) in 12th place.
