All generations on stage
The new confirmations of Maria Bethânia and João Gomes at the next Coala Festival only confirm that this is an event designed for all ages, from eight to eighty.
Maria Bethânia needs no introduction, being considered one of the greatest voices in Brazilian popular music, continuing to captivate different generations with her incredible interpretations of various hits known to the general public. At the Coala Festival , she will be celebrating her 60-year career with a show that combines new songs with her timeless classics.
Representing the younger crowd, João Gomes, from Pernambuco, winner of a Latin Grammy, brings to the Coala Festival the authenticity of Piseiro, the musical and dance style for which this artist has become known, combining this very regional genre with contemporary language.
The power of the Portuguese language: 3 icons, 3 cultures, 1 stage

Slow J, Bonga, and Lulu Santos are the first confirmed stars of what will be a historic gathering of Portuguese-speaking generations and rhythms at the next Coala Festival at the end of May.
In one of the celebrations of Portuguese-speaking cultural identity that brings together names that define the past, present, and future of global music, the lineup for the third edition of Coala Festival highlights the diversity of rhythms and political depth of artists who have shaped musical aesthetics on three continents.
Slow J (the avant-garde)
The Portuguese-Angolan rapper and producer, today the most influential voice in new Portuguese music, presents the acclaimed project “Afro Fado,” in a show that is a visceral fusion between contemporary beats and the roots that unite Lisbon and Luanda.
Bonga (the resistance)
At 82, the “ambassador of semba” brings the weight of history to the Coala Festival. An activist and symbol of Angola’s independence, the author of the iconic Angola 72 proves that his artistic vitality remains intact after four decades of career and almost 40 albums released.
Lulu Santos (the legend of pop)
The Brazilian guitar master brings his vast repertoire of classics. With a career spanning decades since the group Vímana, Lulu remains one of the most successful artists in the history of Brazilian music.
The presence of these three artists at the Coala Festival is an intercultural dialogue that crosses the Atlantic, uniting the tradition of Angolan semba, the sophistication of Brazilian pop, and the innovation of Luso-African hip-hop.

Coala Festival, a unique and different music event
There is no doubt that what sets this festival apart from all others is its musical curation, which gives it a unique identity, in contrast to other more generalist music events, with very disparate genres.
With a selection of artists chosen by Gabriel Andrade, founding partner of the festival, and Kalaf Epalanga, acclaimed Angolan musician and writer, Coala Festival has a concept that transcends borders, bringing together the sister countries of Portugal, Brazil, and the African continent, helping to promote “new sound dialogues” while celebrating music in the Portuguese language.
Now that three names have been announced for the lineup of the 3rd edition of Coala Festivalin Cascais, we recall some of the bands and artists who have already graced its stage and who serve as a guarantee of quality: Gilberto Gil, Ney Matogrosso, BK’, Liniker, Carminho, António Zambujo, Mayra Andrade, among others.
This mix of styles, ranging from Samba to Fado, Afrobeat, and Hip-hop, creates a unique atmosphere that you will hardly find at other summer festivals in Europe.
