Chelas é o Sítio, Dealema, Sam the Kid (DJ Set) & DJ Big, Oma (co-curated with Versus), Shaka Lion, Afrokillerz, Silly, Cintia, Maotik, Yung Singh, DJ Marfox accompanied by Deejay Rifox and Deejay Veiga, Kenny Caetano, Sara Sadik, Hetta, George Silver, Puçanga and Violeta Azevedo are just some of the names on the line-up for this year’s Iminente Takeover Festival.
After previous years in Praça do Comércio, Oeiras and the Monsanto Panoramic , to name but a few, this year ‘ s cultural program will take over the Garden of the Lisbon Museum – Palácio Pimenta, on October 12 and 13.
After several years of rich and varied programming in the surroundings and in the center of the capital, the Iminente Takeover Festival will once again have free admission, centered around the trees, plants and curious peacocks of the Palácio Pimenta, in Campo Grande.
For Sílvia Rebelo, Iminente’s production director,
This is another edition in which Iminente is reinventing itself, looking for new ways to bring to the center what usually lives on the margins. After entering the Mucem in Marseille in 2022 and appropriating the Terreiro do Paço in 2023, it’s time to take over the Lisbon Museum Gardens with a program that is born in the communities and celebrates their active participation.”
Program, projects and musical entertainment
The “BAIRROS” program presents its 4th edition at this Iminente Takeover Festival, through projects developed by artists and the community in five territories of the city of Lisbon over the last four months.
You’ll be able to watch dance, visual arts, architecture, gastronomy and music creations being presented on the Museu stage:
- Musical performances curated by Maze and Marfox
- Dance performance with the PER 11 +65 group, mediated by Inês Oliveira
- Exhibition of documentation of the BAIRROS program’s work process
- Visual arts works from the workshops run by João Fortuna, Kiam, Sepher and Atelier JQTS
- Green Kitchen show cooking sessions
This year, the Iminente Takeover Festival is once again taking part in various projects, including the “Participation” project, which invites four artists/collectives, Maotik (FR), Lauren Moffat (AUS), Sara Sadik (FR) and Unidigrazz (PT) to create works that invite interaction based on input from the public, researchers and journalists.
The “Residencies” project, already well-known in these parts, will once again be present at this year’s edition, where Batida, Carlota Lagido, Shahd Wadi and Carin Geada and the group Lila Fadista, Piny and Vês Três will present installations-performances; and Xullaji, Gaya de Medeiros and ±MaisMenos± will present an immersive interactive installation.
