The solar eclipse is one of the hottest topics right now, and it seems like no one wants to miss this phenomenon, which hasn’t occurred in Portugal since 1912. So, if you’re looking for unique (and free) things to do, here’s a tip for you: on August 12, Santo Amaro Beach in Oeiras has set the perfect stage for the solar eclipse with a special program.
Just a few minutes from Lisbon, the beach will be bustling with activities between 4 p.m. and 10 p.m. There , you’ll find the beach, music, guided observation sessions, and, above all, safety.
What can you expect from the eclipse viewing event?
Between 4 p.m. and 9 p.m., the soundtrack will be provided by a DJ set, designed to accompany the progression of the eclipse, which at this location is expected to reach about 95% coverage of the sun. With music setting the pace for this unique moment, the highlight will be the giant screen set upon the sand, which will broadcast live footage of the moon’s advance across the sun.
At the same time, you can count on experts to provide a guided observation of the phenomenon. In addition, a lounge area with beanbags will be set up for anyone who needs to recharge their energy or simply enjoy a moment of rest and relaxation.”
