In Porto and the northern region of Portugal, eating francesinhas is almost a ‘religion’ and this gastronomic delicacy has even been considered one of the best sandwiches in the world by the TasteAtlas platform. So if you’re a fan of this dish, here’s a tip: there’s a Francesinhas Festival near Lisbon with free admission.
Between September 27 and October 6, the Jardim Municipal de Oeiras is hosting the 5th edition of this gastronomic festival. There, you’ll find traditional francesinhas, cooked in a wood-fired oven, or even a vegan option for those who don’t want to eat anything of animal origin.

The Oeiras Francesinhas Festival is attended only by typical Porto restaurants, such as:

However, this dish isn’t the only delicacy you’ll find in Oeiras. There are also various snacks to choose from, such as the famous “cachorrinhos” and ” bifanas“.
