On July 4, the Jamor National Sports Center in Oeiras will become the stage for the happiest 5 km on the planet. The Color Run Shine Tour is coming to the region with plenty of color, music, and a new station featuring gold and silver sparkles.
After Gondomar, it’s Oeiras’ turn
The Color Run Shine Tour has already visited Gondomar, where it drew around 3,500 participants in a hugely successful event. Now it’s Oeiras’ turn to host the world’s most fun, colorful, and inclusive race, with expectations of drawing even more participants than the previous stop. The 4:00 p.m. start is already sold out, with spots remaining only for the 4:30 p. m. start.
What’s new: a gold and silver glitter station
In addition to the usual colored powder stations, this year participants will also pass through a station dedicated to the Shine Tour, where they’ll be covered in gold and silver glitter. According to the organizers, these powders are made from cornstarch mixed with food coloring; they’re completely safe, used in the food industry, and non-polluting.
Post-race party
The party doesn’t end at the finish line. After the race, the festival features singer Filipe Gonçalves as the emcee and music by DJ Temptation Music, along with activations by partner brands and food trucks to recharge your energy. In total, The Color Run takes place from 3:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Jamor National Sports Center in Oeiras.
An event designed for everyone
Tiago Pereira, director of The Color Run Portugal, emphasizes the commitment to inclusivity: “At The Color Run, we work continuously to ensure that this is an event truly for everyone. Ensuring an accessible course is one of our priorities. We always plan our events so that families and friends can experience the happiest 5 km on the planet without any worries.”
The event also supports charitable organizations that work with people with various types of disabilities or who require inclusion. This year, the Alo Foundation and the Casa de Saúde da Idanha are the supported organizations. According to Cátia Correia, the event manager, this support “always makes for an incredible experience, as we get to share these moments of happiness with everyone.”
How to participate
At The Color Run, it doesn’t matter if you run, walk, or even dance your way through the 5 km. Along the route, there are several colored powder stations, a foam station, an immersive tunnel, an inflatable obstacle, and—for this edition—the new gold and silver glitter station.
