A few days before spring arrives, we have good news for fans of themed trips: the Cherry Blossom Route is back for another edition.
Promoted by CP – Comboios de Portugal, in partnership with Fundão City Council, the tourist route is already a ‘classic’, the aim being to enjoy the white spectacle provided by the cherry blossoms.
When does it take place?
According to CP’s official website, the themed trip on rails takes place on March 22, 23, 29 and 30, and April 5 and 6, on weekends.
The train departs from Lisbon-Santa Apolónia station in the direction of Fundão, in first class carriages .
What to expect on the Cherry Blossom Route?
This trip is an opportunity to discover the Beira Line and the charms of the Serra da Gardunha.
The program itself includes a guided tour of the Historic Centre of Fundão and the Milling Museum, a visit to the Cherry House with tastings and a walk through the Historical Village of Castelo Novo.
Other information
The train leaves Lisbon at 8.15 a.m. and is scheduled to arrive in Fundão at 11.38 a.m., with the return trip scheduled for 7.25 p.m.
Tickets are on sale in the usual places and cost 47€ for adults and 26€ for children, with special packs for groups.
