The Cascais Line will experience service disruptions, and it’s not because of Easter. Starting on April 6 (Monday), the railway section between Caxias and Cascais will be affected due to safety improvement work.
This is not the last “forced” stoppage on the Cascais Line, but this time the goal is to replace the current electrification system, install new signaling systems, and modernize operational support equipment, among other reasons.
When will the service interruption take place?
According to the CP – Comboios de Portugal website , the periods of total suspension will occur on weekdays between 9:50 p.m. and 2:35 a.m., as well as on Sundays between 5:30 a.m. and 8:40 a.m. and between 7:50 p.m. and 2:35 a.m. the following day.
Will there be transfers?

If you regularly use the Cascais Line, you should know that a bus shuttle service is planned, with stops at the following stations:
- Monte Estoril
- Estoril
- São João do Estoril
- São Pedro do Estoril
- Parede
- Carcavelos
- Oeiras
- Santo Amaro
- Paço de Arcos
Mark your calendars for April 12!
Why? Well, on Sunday, April 12, rail service between the São Pedro do Estoril and Cascais stations will operate on a single track, resulting in schedule changes and alterations to the usual boarding/alighting platforms.
