For four days, from September 5 to 8, the gardens of the Palácio de Belém will once again be filled with books, music, films, theater and games. This is the new edition of the Book Festival in Belém, organized once again by the Presidency of the Republic and APEL – the Portuguese Association of Publishers and Booksellers.
As always, entry to the Belém Book Festival is free, and Professor Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, as a good host, will also be there (get your selfies ready) to remind everyone of the main objective of this event: to promote Portuguese-speaking authors.
And books are not to be missed! Waiting for visitors will be almost 70 stalls (belonging to various publishers), where you can buy the latest best-sellers or that book you’ve been looking for for so long.
But there’s much more to see and do in the program! As well as letting you visit the gardens of the Palácio de Belém (it doesn’t open its doors every day) you’ll find more than 300 initiatives including debates, book launches, cinema, concerts and more than 280 authors at autograph sessions.
Children have not been forgotten and will be challenged to take part in storytelling sessions, educational games and street animations.
As in previous editions, you can also count on the usual street food areas with a terrace, and plenty of reading areas to browse through the latest books.

Hours: Until September 8, from 11am to 9pm
