From October 4 to 6, the 8th anniversary of the Museum of Art, Architecture and Technology (MAAT) promises to liven up the area of Belém. The program includes several free activities, as well as an innovative event the Block Party at MAAT, which will bring a lot of Afro-house and electronic music.
Inspired by the block parties (street parties) popularized in New York, in the United States of America (USA), in the 1970s, the “Block Party at MAAT” will feature various artists.
But while we’re at it, it’s worth pointing out that the anniversary party itself is a fusion of music, gastronomy, a market and, of course, art. After all, this is a museum.
What to expect from the Block Party at MAAT (and beyond)?
The Praça do Carvão will be the epicenter of MAAT’s 8th anniversary celebrations, including performances, visits, workshops and food trucks. The program also includes The Spot Market, where fashion and lifestyle aficionados can find pieces of jewelry, decoration and handicrafts.
Access to the activities free runs from 12h00 to 19h00. However, there is one exception: the Block Party at MAAT. That is, on October 4 and 5 (Saturday and Sunday, respectively), from 8 p.m. onwards, tickets must be paid, starting at €25.
On October 4, among the confirmed musical names are, for example, Groove Armada, DOT and DJ Shugi. On October 5, Pablo Fierro, Raffa Guido and Megatronic will be livening up the evening.
Address: Avenida de Brasília, Belém
When: from October 4 to 6
Tickets: free entry, with the exception of access to the Block Party at MAAT which costs from €25.
