News reports often appear about the difficulty of renting a house, as well as the consecutive rises in rents. To counteract this trend, Arruda dos Vinhos City Council is promoting a Youth Rental Support Program.
According to information quoted by the Público newspaper, the regulation was recently published in the Diário da República and aims to help young people pay their rent at a time when there is little to offer and the prices charged in large urban centers are unaffordable for many.
Located 35 km from the capital, a journey of around 30 to 40 minutes by car, this town in the district of Lisbon thus aims to “contribute to the settlement, attraction and autonomy of young people in the municipality [of Arruda dos Vinhos]“, reads the source mentioned above.
