The event celebrating 25 years of Armazéns do Chiado will take place on October 25 and promises to be a visual and sound experience like you’ve never seen, telling the story and importance of this space in the city and in the Chiado district.
The iconic façade of Armazéns do Chiado will be transformed into a huge screen 20 meters high and five meters wide, with a total of 200 LED strips, a total of 10,000 LEDs.
This will also be the first time that this LED mapping technology has been used in Portugal, allowing a visualization of the 25-year history of this Lisbon shopping center, where there will be no shortage of significant moments such as the Chiado fire in 1988 and, of course, the respective reconstruction and revitalization of this shopping area.
The celebratory event will also feature lots of music and live performances by musicians who will interpret various versions of hits that have marked the last 25 years of Portuguese music, namely by Amália Rodrigues, Ana Moura, Salvador Sobral and Clã.
The visual and sound show will last 20 minutes and will be played at three different times, allowing more people to attend these celebrations:
- at 18h30
- at 7.30pm
- and at 8.30pm
According to Ricardo Esteves, Director of Armazéns do Chiado,
Armazéns do Chiado is made up of reunions. In the year in which we celebrate 25 years of history, we want to remember how it all began. We remember the past, celebrate the present and keep our eyes on the future, because we wouldn’t be celebrating this milestone if innovation wasn’t present in the shopping center’s daily life. And the proof of this is the very show we’re going to present, based on pioneering technology in Portugal – LED Mapping – which will take us on an exciting journey into the past.”
