Do you work from home? Are you trying to use some of your favorite apps, like Duolingo? Or do you just want to play PlayStation? Then get ready to ‘miss the boat’ or face some technical problems. Since early Monday morning, October 20, a blackout on Amazon Web Services (AWS) has been affecting several pages.
The AWS cloud hosts some of the largest social networks, digital platforms and games in the world, so this critical failure is causing turbulence on a considerable number of sites.
For example, the CEO of Perplexity, Aravind Srinivas, shared a post on X reporting on the situation:
At the moment, Perplexity is down. The source is the problem with Amazon Web Services. We are working on a resolution,” reads the post.

According to Downdetector, at the beginning of this morning, these were some of the sites/platforms with reported technical problems:
- Snapchat
- Zoom
- Canva
- Fortnite
- Wordle
- Coinbase
- Duolingo
- Slack
- Epic Games
- PokemonGo
- PlayStation Network, among many others.
In the meantime, it seems that several sites are starting to recover their services. However, don’t be surprised if you still see some instability. In any case, now you at least know the reason for these ‘glitches’!
