The Alvalade Christmas Market returns to Avenida da Igreja for its 10th edition between December 6 and 17, between 10am and 8pm, to celebrate the great Christmas festival, in a great event for all the family, with the famous Santa’s House.
This celebration is joined by traditional local shops with stalls for all tastes, as well as a varied program that includes, of course, lots of entertainment for the little ones.
Enchanting Alvalade since 2014
The Alvalade Christmas Market has been taking place since 2014 and has become a serious success story due to the great support of the entire Alvalade neighborhood community.
There are probably few Lisbon residents who have never been to this well-known Christmas market.
The Christmas Market in Alvalade stands out above all for its excellent organization by the local parish council and is characterized by creating a very family-friendly atmosphere, where there is no shortage of reasons to stop by, from the lighting and decoration of the streets, the 50 wooden houses with handicrafts, the gastronomy on offer typical of this time of year and, of course, lots of street entertainment, where Santa Claus is, of course, the main figure of the party.
Another Christmas of solidarity
The Christmas Market in Alvalade will once again be associated with institutions and projects in the parish, sharing one of the wooden houses throughout the event.
Program for 2024
Among the huge number of activities you can enjoy at the Alvalade Christmas Market, the organization highlights these, but you’ll find the entire program in the poster below:
- Inauguration: December 6, at 6pm, with a meeting at Santa’s House;
- Latin American Christmas Market: December 7, from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., with handicrafts, gastronomy and workshops of Latin American origin;
- Christmas Bike Tour by Night: a lively bike tour of the city, starting at José Gomes Ferreira Park, on December 13 at 7pm;
- Santa Claus , Elves and Treats: Santa Claus will be at the market every day, from 5pm to 7.30pm on weekdays and on public holidays and weekends, from 11am to 1pm and 3pm to 7.30pm, to welcome children and take photos;
- Face painting and balloon sculptures: activities for children at Santa’s House on December 14 at 10 a.m;
- Sustainable Christmasworkshops: various workshops during the event, promoting ecological practices and sustainability ideas for Christmas.
Where is the Alvalade Christmas Market located?
The area of the Alvalade Christmas Market, which is approximately 13,024m2, extends along the stretch of Avenida da Igreja, between the intersection of Avenida de Roma and Avenida da Igreja, and between the intersection of Largo Frei Heitor Pinto and Avenida da Igreja.
As far as the commercial offer is concerned, it has several establishments in their own structures, which remain present throughout the 12 days of this market , and other establishments selected by tender, which divide their presence into two shifts.
